Schools

NameInformation et technologies quantiques
Organised by QICS members Quentin Glorieux, Frédéric Grosshans, Valentina Parigi
SummaryThis school aims to provide the basis in quantum communications, in their physical and computational aspects.
Goals? The objective of this course is to give students an overview of quantum networks, from their physical implementations – atomic and photonic – to their potential applications and cryptography or distributed computing, including entanglement distribution protocols.
Who?Master-level and PhD students
When?June 20th to 26th

NameEPIT in Quantum informatics – Quantum computer science
SummaryThe topic of the 2021 edition of EPIT is quantum computer science. Quantum computer science aims to understand information processing using information carriers that follow the laws of quantum mechanics. We are also planning to hold poster sessions, in which participants are encouraged to present their work related to the program. Use https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=epit2021 to submit your work before April 30th.
Goals? The EPIT 2021 aims to make the participants familiar with the core concept of quantum computer science, while at the same time providing an overview of the current active research areas.  Even though we expect many of the participants to have basic familiarity with the formalism of quantum information (such as the notion of superposition or entanglement), we also plan to accommodate participants that never had exposure to the formalism of quantum information and are interested in learning about quantum computing.
Who?EPIT is primarily aimed at PhD students and young researches, but senior researchers are also welcome.

Familiarity with the basics of quantum information is expected for the Mini-courses and Lectures. However, an introductory tutorial at the
beginning of the school will quickly cover this material: specifically lectures 1 – 4 and 14 – 15 in https://cs.uwaterloo.ca/~watrous/QC-notes/. Reading these lecture notes before the school is highly recommended for participants that are not familiar with the formalism of quantum information.
When? The EPIT 2021 will take place from Monday May 24th, 2021 to Friday May 28th hosted by the CIRM in hybrid virtual/in person mode. Depending on the evolution of travel restrictions, some participants may be able to come in person.
Where?CIRM – Centre International de Rencontres Mathématiques –
Marseille Luminy, France
